There's a new McCormick in town

Welcome to the latest member of the family.
No name yet but I'm sure Josh and Melissa know what it is.
More to come, but congratulations to the newest mom and dad, grandmas and grandpas, uncles and everyone else.

Mother's Day +++

Happy Mother's Day and 60th Birthday to Harry and Bunny.
And apparently Stan and Diane's anniversary as well.

It was great to see everyone and get a Hokkaido fix at the same time.
Although I'm not sure I can take more than one a year any more.

. . . and thanks to Harry and Denise for hosting.

Fishing around in Hanoi

Happy Birthday (a little late) Ed.
Thought of you when we spotted people fishing on Westlake here in Hanoi.

Not like fishing on a BASS BOAT in the Delta.
Bamboo poles and NO BAIT. Just hooks.

We saw plenty of people with fish, although I'm not sure if I'd knowingly eat fish from this particular lake. It's pretty polluted. Garbage seems to be a bit of a problem here and people seem to have no problem with just throwing things into the water.

We found a fishing supply store in town.
These are the types of fishing reels they use.

Then there are these vegetables, or are they fruit?

And finally, a dental office in town. At least we think it's a dental office.

Happy Birthday Great Grandma

GREAT GRANDMA IS 96 YEARS OLD!
I am sorry Josh and I missed such a momentous occasion. We had already planned our trip to celebrate a belated Christmas with the McCormick Family and were unable to change our plans on such short notice.
She looks even better than when dad and I visited her together in November.

Three Generations

The Party-goers

All the Chin grandchildren minus Uncle Herman plus one great grandchild.

See you on February 13th, Chinese New Year!!!

Bev's birthday in Shenzhen

Happy Birthday Bev.
We all helped Bev celebrate at a Dim Sum restaurant.
Special thanks to Sabrina for organizing not a birthday cake but a large lucky peach bun with a bunch of little peach buns.
Here are a couple of forbidden pictures we took at the restaurant.

We headed to a local shopping complex near the local train station in Shenzhen. There were about six floors filled with hundreds of small shops selling various goods. I think Kayla is getting a bunch of loot from here.

Then off to the Cultural Park in Shenzhen.

We witnessed a grand battle scene recreated before our very eyes. The historic significance of the battle was lost on most of our party.

Bev visited the Lamastery.

There was a section of the park with miniatures of several different areas throughout the country.

We then had dinner at a restaurant in the Park, complete with fried fish heads, which actually turned out to be quite tasty.

See, even non normal fish head eating people were partaking in the tasty treats.

Our evening at the Cultural Park was capped off by a grand performance in the main theater in the Park. Yes, there were plate twirlers.

And a Video.
